Taja's monster

Taja from Toronto loves drawing and she puts lots of time, effort and thought into each and every piece of art - so I tried to do my best when sewing her softie. Her aunt asked me to use felt and some detailing with fine sewed lines and it was a softie I enjoyed experimenting with very very much.

Keep your fingers crossed, please!

This softie was lost and found sewn again. I was so sad about it, especially that it was intended to be a Christmas present. I shipped it late November but the package never arrived. So I made it again and now it is on its way to Australia.
Cadel, 4, painted a self portrait onto a shirt and his mum thought it would be lovely keepsake for him to have it made into a softie.

version A, last November
version B, this January

Az egyetlen firkababa, ami eltűnt valahol a világban...

Teenage Ninja Turtle

This time the artist is 8 year old Tye, who absolutely loves his turtle Raphael and the Teenage Ninja Turtles, and what's more he loves stuffed animals - that's why his aunt asked me to turn the turtle drawing into a softie.

Marley's self portrait

"It would mean the world!"
That's what Marley's mum wrote to me when she asked if I could create this softie for Marley. And that's why it is so good to make softies.
My co-artist Marley just turned 4 when she drew herself.

Egy kanadai kislány önarcképe. Vagyis önegészalakosképe, vagy mi.... Igazi 3D szempillákkal!

Enma's team

Enma is a little Spanish girl, who is soon celebrating her 5th birthday. These colourful people are her family members and friends on their way to Sevilla.

Az ötéves Enma kis csapata. Hogy érdekesebb legyen a dolog, abban maradtunk, hogy a fejek különböző színűek lesznek, szigorúan pasztellben.

King of the animals

Sophia loves toy animals and her godmother loves Sophia, so she asked me to make this lion softie for her goddaughter's 8th birthday.

Svájci oroszlán, Sophia keresztmamája kérte a kislány 8. szülinapjára.

Women in love

Two softies from two women for a hubby and a boyfriend.

Deerty has gone to Italy to meet his graphic-designer-father. Deerty is a toy robot, who lost his friends and decided to make a trip all over the world to find them. Good luck!

And now meet Sandwich from Germany. He was drawn by a boy at the age of 14. The 'boy' was celebrating his 43rd birthday  in December and after he had unwrapped his bday present he just stared at Sandwich softie for half an hour - and he seemed to be happy :-)

What shall I call you..?

Yes, it was a strange request. The drawing scared me a little bit when I first saw it, but Teresa was so kind and enthusiastic, that I did not want to say no. The softie was a late birthday present for his 18 year old son, Josh, and he sent me kudos when he saw the photos :-)

I had already decided not to take any new orders for Christmas when I got an email from a godfather from New Caledonia. He wanted me to create this pretty cat for his goddaughter in France. With 23 000 kilometers between them they can't meet very often. This is the kind of story I can't resist... So I checked my schedule again, said yes - and Kayna's beautiful cat arrived in time to make her happy at Christmas.

Minisofties

These minis are somewhere between 12-15 centimeter. Although usually the smaller a softie is, the more difficult my job can be, I loved sewing these ones.

First two doggies for a grandma in Austria. They were her beloved Chihuahuas, called Hexi and Speedy, and this is the way her granddaughter saw them when she was a little girl.

This is Dashiell's unique black and neon green man, which is now a special piece in a collection of little "dolls". We loved the idea of this oversized head with a tiny body - and the stars and moon could find their place on the body. My favourite detail was the small creature with flaming hair flying up in the wind. And it is such a good feeling to find a nice solution for difficult details like this.

This monkey was a big favourite of mine - it was for an adult's birthday from a drawing that was done as a child. Quite obviously I used shades of brown, added a tail, and I was so happy to read Richard's email: "That is really fantastic - just how I had hoped it would be!"

Mum and her baby

This was probably the project I shared with my youngest co-artist. He was a a little over one year old when he drew his impression of his mum, who was pregnant with his sister. It was the sister who asked me to turn the drawing into a softie for their mum for Christmas. And she was my other co-artist - she made a beautiful sketch with her ideas! She did not want a black and white softie, it would have been too harsh in her opinion, so we decided to use some nice beige canvas and charcoal cotton. She asked me to sew a pear shaped body for the mum, a spherical body (head..?) for the baby, and to make movable arms and legs for both of them. But I think my favourite detail of all was the hands: knot like palms with fingers made of waxed string. I was grateful for this order - special softie, special customer :-)

Egyik nagy kedvencem. Nagyon kedves megrendelő, nagyon különleges rajzzal, nagyon konkrét elképzelésekkel. Ami lehetett volna rémisztő is, de most inkább inspiráló volt. Gyönyörű vázlatot kaptam a lánytól - ő csüng a mamája pocakján, ez az öccse rajza úgy egyéves korából, mikor megtudta hogy a mamája újra babát vár. A lány pontosan leírta, lerajzolta, hogyan képzeli a részleteket, a formákat, az anyagokat. Én pedig előbányásztam a régi lenvászon-készletem, bejártam a boltokat a megfelelő árnyalatú végtag-anyagért, és kikísérleteztem a lehető leghűbb szabásmintákat. Tetszett neki a végeredmény :-)

Elf shift

Slowly getting back to my blog - new year, new softies. These 3 toys were made for 3 sisters. Jamie told his daughters he had sent their drawings to the elves to make softies from them, and that Santa would deliver them on Christmas day. And he did!
